| Abstract: |
Mary Anderson (1859-1940) was an actress who toured in the United States and England for almost 15 years, retiring in 1889. She married Antonio Fernando de Navarro (d. 1932) the following year. An author of two books, she was also known as an accomplished hostess in England. This collection of letters, most of which were written in 1912, contains a note to Miss Wallis, accompanied with three newspaper clippings; a letter to Lady Aberdeen concerning a youth charity; and 3 letters to Sir Henry about visits. |

A note from Mary de Navarro (as Mary Anderson was known after her marriage) in Worcestershire, England in which she regrets missing an opportunity to meet with Miss Wallis and encourages Miss Wallis to sketch whatever subject matter she deems suitable. With this note there are three newspaper clippings: a photograph of Anderson while starring in Romeo and Juliet; a June 7, 1927 brief biographical sketch; and a note about her attendance at a Shakespeare festival and luncheon with George Bernard Shaw. |
