The American Association of University Women, formerly known as the Association of College Alumnae (ACA), was founded in 1882. In 1921, the ACA merged with the Southern Association of College Women to form the AAUW. Since then, their objectives have been to promote the education of women, as well as equity in the workforce. The Leavenworth, Kansas, branch was founded in 1937.
